India’s Tanvi Sharma has ascended to the top position in the latest junior women’s singles world rankings published by the Badminton World Federation on Tuesday.
Sharma’s achievement comes shortly after her impressive performance at the 2025 US Open Super 300, where she secured the runner-up position against Beiwen Zhang from the United States.
At just 16 years old, Sharma has accumulated 19,730 points from 14 tournaments, surpassing Thailand’s Anyapat Phichitpreechasak to claim the World No 1 title.
Sharma’s achievement at the US Open Super 300 significantly boosted her position in the senior women’s singles rankings. She climbed 16 places and is now ranked No.50 in the world, marking her highest career ranking at the level.
Currently, Sharma has accumulated 30,160 points and stands as the sixth highest ranked player from India. PV Sindhu, ranked No.17 in the world, holds the title of the highest ranked women’s singles player at the moment.
