The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially revealed the Women’s Central Contracts fot he 2025-26 season, with the highly regarded T20I bowler Sadia Iqbal receiving a well-deserved elevation to Category A.
The contracts, which will be effective from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026, include a 50 percent increase in player retainers across all categories.
Sadia Iqbal, who currently occupies the No.1 position in the ICC T20I bowling rankings, leads a roster of 20 contracted players, with her advancement to Category A reflecting her rising prominence in international cricket. Other players in Category A include Fatima Sana, Muneeba ali, and Sidra Amin.
Significant upgrades were made for several players, with Diana Baig elevating from Category C to B, and Rameen Shamim progressing from D to C. The new contract recipients include Aliya Riaz (Category B), Sidra Nawaz (D), Natalia Parvaiz (D), and Waheeda Akhta (D).
In an effort to foster young talent, the PCB has launched a new ‘Emerging’ Category E, featuring uncapped batter Eyman Fatima, along with Shawaal Zulfiqar, who has previously represented Pakistan in three ODIs and seven T20Is, as the inaugural players to receive contracts in this new category. Both players are included in Pakistan’s squad for the forthcoming T20I series against Ireland in Dublin.
The contracts were finalized by the PCB women’s selection committee in collaboration with head coach Muhammad Wasim, taking into account recent performances and future potential as Pakistan prepares for a significant phase in women’s cricket.
The women’s team is set to compete in two major ICC events in the upcoming months, having secured qualification for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup after winning the Qualifier held at home, as well as next year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
