ICC Men’s And Women’s Player of the Month August 2025 Nominees

Three fast bowlers have been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for August 2025.

Mohammed Siraj (India)

Although Mohammed Siraj participated in only one match during August, his exceptional performance in that game was sufficient to earn him a nomination. The right-arm bowler from India played a pivotal role in the concluding Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series against England at The Oval, where he took nine wickets at an average of 21.11.

In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Siraj spearheaded the bowling attack with remarkable resolve, delivering over 46 overs across two innings, having also played in the previous four Tests of the series. He achieved four wickets in the first innings and followed that with an impressive five-wicket haul in the second.

His impactful bowling in the final innings led India to victory and was vital in achieving a 2-2 series draw.

In recognition of his outstanding performance, Siraj was awarded Player of the Match in the contest held in south London.

Matt Henry (New Zealand)

Matt Henry emerged as the key player in New Zealand’s 2-0 Test series triumph against Zimbabwe, securing 16 wickets over two matches at an impressive average of 9.12.

In the opening match of the series, he dismantled Zimbabwe’s batting lineup, achieving figures of 6/39 in the first innings, and subsequently took three additional wickets in the second innings, concluding with 9/90 and earning the Player of the Match accolade.

He maintained his exceptional performance in the second Test, capturing another five-wicket haul in the first innings and adding two more in the second, which contributed to New Zealand’s victory by an innings and 359 runs.

Jayden Seales (West Indies)

Jayden Seales played a crucial role in West Indies’ remarkable ODI series victory over Pakistan, marking their first win in 34 years.

The young fast bowler took 10 wickets over three matches, achieving an average of 10 and an economy rate of merely 4.10.

He had a subdued beginning in the first ODI, securing only one wicket while giving away 59 runs as Pakistan comfortably won the match. Nevertheless, Seales made a stunning comeback in the second game, taking three wickets in seven overs, which included the significant dismissals of Babar Azam and Saim Ayub.

In the third ODI, Seales showcased his exceptional skills, dismantling Pakistan’s batting lineup with a career-best performance of 6/18 — the third-best bowling figures by a West Indies bowler in ODI history — thereby clinching the series in a commanding manner.

Two outstanding all-rounders and an impressive wicket-keeper-batter are competing for the monthly accolades in August.

Orla Prendergast (Ireland)

The all-rounder from Ireland has maintained her excellent form during the T20I series against Pakistan and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier.

Prendergast excelled with both bat and ball in Ireland’s 2-1 series victory over Pakistan. The 23-year-old emerged as the top run-scorer in the series, accumulating 144 runs across three innings, which featured two half-centuries.

Additionally, she was Ireland’s leading wicket-taker, achieving four dismissals in the three matches and was named the Player of the Series.

Building on her performances in the bilateral series, Prendergast contributed another 100 runs and secured three wickets from the five T20Is in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier.

Iris Zwilling (Netherlands)

Iris Zwilling emerged as a standout performer as the Netherlands secured victories in four out of their six matches during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier.

The all-rounder excelled with the ball, finishing as the joint-leading wicket-taker with a total of 10 dismissals across the six matches, while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.65.

Her exceptional performances were particularly notable in the victories against Germany and Italy, where she recorded bowling figures of 3/14 and 3/6, respectively.

In addition to her bowling prowess, Zwilling also made significant contributions with the bat, scoring 39 runs for her team at a strike rate of 121.87 from the lower-middle order.

Muneeba Ali (Pakistan)

Pakistan’s experienced wicket-keeper-batter made history with her performance against Ireland in the T20I series.

Muneeba entered the record books by scoring her second T20I century, which is also the second century by a Pakistani batter in Women’s T20Is.

The Pakistan opener showcased her batting skills in the third T20I against Ireland, scoring 100 runs off 68 balls, including 14 fours and a six.

She finished the T20I series ranked just behind Prendergast in the run-scoring leaderboard, with an impressive average of 66. Interestingly, her first T20I century was also against Ireland during the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
