Shubman Gill is now the captain of India’s men’s ODI team, taking over from Rohit Sharma in October 2025. His first big test as skipper will be the three-match series against Australia starting on October 19. At just 26, Gill will lead India into the next ODI World Cup cycle. Shreyas Iyer has been named his deputy, while senior stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will continue to play important roles in the team. This change marks a new generation of leadership in Indian cricket. Gill has already shown promise while leading in Test matches, and now he has been trusted with guiding the ODI side as well.
