Veteran Actor Satish Shah Dies at Mumbai Hospital   

Veteran actor Satish Shah passed away in Mumbai on October 25, 2025, at the age of 74, after struggling with kidney-related health issues.

Reason behind Death

According to reports, Satish Shah had a kidney transplant a few months ago but later developed an infection that caused kidney failure. He was taken to Hinduja Hospital, where he passed away around 2:30 PM on October 25. His close friend and filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed the news, calling it a “huge loss to the film and television industry.

Funeral Arrangement

Satish Shah’s last rites will be held on October 26, 2025, in Mumbai. Many of his colleagues from the entertainment industry, including actors from Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and veteran filmmakers, are expected to attend the ceremony.

His Life and Career

Satish Shah was born in Mumbai in 1951 to a Gujarati family. He studied at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and made his acting debut in the 1978 film Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan. In a career spanning nearly five decades, he became well-known for his amazing comedy and perfect timing, earning love and praise from audiences everywhere.

He is best remembered for playing Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, one of India’s most loved TV shows.

In the 1984 sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, he did something truly special — he played 55 different characters in 55 episodes, a rare feat in Indian television.

He also appeared in many popular films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Main Hoon Na, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Legacy and Tributes

Friends and colleagues, including JD Majethia, shared that Satish Shah was hopeful about returning to work in November 2025, even while facing health issues. People from the film industry remembered him as “an actor who could make even the simplest scene memorable.” Social media has been filled with tributes praising his humor, kindness, and lasting impact on Indian entertainment.
