India is set to face Ben Stokes’s England under the leadership of Shubman Gill in the second match of the five-match Test series (Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy) at Edgbaston in Birmingham, commencing on Wednesday, July 2. Following a defeat in the first Test by five wickets, India is expected to begin with a weakened bowling lineup, as star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be absent for the second Test.

India commenced the Leeds Tests with a strong performance, as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Subham Gill, and Rishabh Pant each scored impressive centuries, propelling India to a total of 475 runs. Nevertheless, apart from Bumrah’s five-wicket haul in the first innings, the bowling attack lacked effectiveness, allowing the England batsmen to mount a rapid recovery in the match, ultimately leading the home team to successfully chase down 371 runs, marking their second-largest total in Test history.
