India’s para badminton champion Pramod Bhagat has made the country proud by winning three gold medals at the Japan Para Badminton International 2025. He clinched the men’s singles (SL3 category) title after a tough battle against Japan’s Daisuke Fujihara, making an impressive comeback to win in three sets — 17-21, 21-19, 21-10. Pramod didn’t stop there — he also bagged gold in men’s doubles with Sukant Kadam and gold in mixed doubles with Manisha Ramadass, completing a golden hat-trick for India.

- He made history by winning the gold medal in men’s singles (SL3 category) at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, becoming the first Indian para-badminton player to do so.

Pramod Bhagat is a well-known Indian para-badminton player with an inspiring journey. He was born on June 4, 1988, in Attabira, Bargarh district, Odisha, to humble parents, late Kailash Bhagat and Kusum Devi. When he was five years old, Pramod was diagnosed with polio, which affected his left leg. Despite this challenge, he never gave up on his love for sports. He first enjoyed playing football, but later developed an interest in badminton after watching matches at school. With the guidance of his coaches, Siba Prasad Das and Gaurav Khanna, he trained hard and built his game, turning his physical limitation into a story of strength and determination. Pramod Bhagat’s wife, Sangeeta (also known as Sangita B Bhagat), works in the financial sector as an insurance agent. According to reports, she is based in Vadodara and is involved in financial and insurance-related services. There’s no information suggesting that she is connected to sports or any other professional field outside this work.
